Paciencia y Fe!

It's been FOREVER since my last blog post, but I really wanted to blog about the amazing show I had the privilege to go see at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles "In the Heights." This show is about "Home, family and where you belong." The beautiful story takes place in New York City, Washington Heights.

All I can say is "In the Heights" is a MUST SEE SHOW! I had the pleasure to see and meet Lin-Manuel Miranda (picture above)in his outstanding performance as Usnavi. He is the creator/song writer and star of the show. It's run in LA is over this Sunday, but will be touring to San Diego and back to Orange County at The Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Cast is EXTREMELY NICE!

Music is AMAZING!

Back and BETTER than EVERRRR!

So, it's been a long time since my last blog post. So much has been going on, I don't even know where to start! Well first of all I had an AMAZING Spring Break! Got a lot of hang out time with my people so I was happy about that, here's what's been going on...

I decided to dye my hair reddish/Burgundy-ish you can say? I've been wanting to do this for quite sometime, but wasn't so sure if it would look good on me. So I did it anyways and I am IN LOVE with it! Here's the final result of it. Not the greatest picture but you can see more of the difference in the lighting.

(after)

So on Friday, April 9Th I was off to The Orange County Performing Arts Center to go see "HAIRSPRAY" and I was surprised how much I enjoyed the show! I had seen a show before here in November. I saw the show "SPRING AWAKENING" my ultimate favorite Musical! So wish I had gotten SA seats as close as the Hairspray ones, but it was totally unexpected that I'd enjoy this show that much, had loads of fun! I would definitely recommend it to everyone! Anxious to go see Lion King next month! Eeeek!

(waiting for the show)

Well I've been looking forward to finally seeing the season premier of "GLEE" I am in LOVE with this show! Even though it blows I have class on Tuesday night's, I was able to catch up on my "Glee" thanks to the on-line episodes. =D Let me just tell you I can't wait for what happens next! I LOVE FINN! He's my favorite guy from the Glee show.

Well now it is back to school and getting busy...again. Have a new show coming up next week. "Working" where I will be playing a flight attendant, lettuce picker and salon customer. Update on the show soon. May it be a great week! xoxo a.

a break...FiNALLY!!!!!

So A LOT! has been going on since my last blog post! EXTREMELY BUSY!!!!!
But got through it like a trooper! Here's what's been going on lately

So, I have this monthly meeting with 2 of my really good friends my (bff's) Ruben & Drea, I know Ruben since I was in 3rd grade and my Drea since 7th grade =] We had our monthly dinner date and they decided to take me to eat sushi for the very first time. Hence I am NOT a seafood person, I just don't like it =p plus shrimp gives me hives =T Anyways we went to this restaurant in Huntington Beach (Bella Terra) called Kabuki a Japanese sushi restaurant. Honestly it wasn't THAT bad. I mean the fact that I don't like seafood and thought this was ok is something. Will I go eat there again? I don't know... unless that's where we HAVE to go haha (picture provided by my Drea <3)...

So remember that "Extremities" scene I told you I was working on, well the day I said we were suppose to perform, I didn't =[ My partner got really sick and we had to postpone the scene for the following Monday (this Monday) and we FiNALLY did it! I can honestly say we ROCKED iT!!! I was ever sooo happy. That was probably the best performance I've ever done! I got great feed back from the audience and my acting teacher. FiNALLY I was able to prove I can be a SERiOUS, DRAMATiC ACTRESSSS!!! So done with being type casted! Now I know how Farrah Faucet felt =[ Establishing myself as a serious actress! I was really proud of myself and I couldn't have done it with out my lovely partner! I tried to film the scene, but I wasn't allowed, I will be performing it once again once I come back from Spring Break, my partner requested it so I'm doing this for him, sooooo if we do I will upload the video.

Journalism story is going along pretty well! Found myself a lovely person I admire and respect to write about =] People well (the kids) said A LOT of lovely things about her, can't wait to finish writing and hoping I get published! (fingers crossed)

So it is finally SPRiNG BREAK! But shouldn't really do a lot of breaking since I do have a lot of things to get done after Spring Break is over =p so much for a break huh?! Working on a new play based on the musical "Working" show dates are this month soon! Well I'm hoping this Spring Break is a good one, too bad I wasn't able to go to Florida and see my baby girl Natty
=[ Summer for sure!!! Looking forward to the 2010-2011 season at the OCPAC!!!! Aaaaahhh super stoked! Hairspray next week I'm hoping! Happy April Fool's! My prank was being "In a Relationship" on Facebook, boooy did I get a lot of "Whaaaaat?" text messages lol xoxo a.

You've got mail!...(post mail)

So I FiNALLY got my very own copy of "A Delicate Balance" book in the mail Tuesday! Took it to get it signed on Thursday by the author and the illustrators (my 6th grade honors kids) I'm so far barley on Chapter 5 because of all the HW I have to do (sigh) but I am loving this book! Totally want to give it to my little brother to read. Don't really want to get in to too much detail about the book until I read a couple of more chapters, but so far I like what I've been reading =]

Sooo this whole week has been super hectic! Had my 2nd show which was sooo not a great one, had a whole bunch of HW to do for my Human Development class, Theatre self-critique papers, Journalism stories to write and Human Sexuality HW! Booooy was it busy, so far I've got everything under control, at least I like to think so...

Acting class scene "Extremities" is coming along well, my scene partner and I have been practicing A LOT! Specially after class since we have to do "stage combat" I guess you can say. Let me tell you practicing getting your hair pulled back like 300 times is so tiring! I've got like bruises all over! Lines are almost perfectly down. Performance night is on Monday so I have to squeeze in an extra rehearsal before Monday comes. I really want to rock this little scene, this is my chance to prove I can do serious dramatic acting. I'm planning on video taping it, hhhmm we'll see...

Journalism, uuugghh totally suffering from writer's block! I have noooo idea what person I'm going to write about, well I kinda do, but after being picked on in class by the professor to share my idea and telling me I don't think you should do it doesn't help, soo eehhh we'll see, story is due Tuesday I believe, so I gotta think of something ASAP! -xoxo a.

ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE!

Sooo, it's been awhile since I've updated! Been suuuper busy with tons of homework (suppose to be doing it right now, but you know procrastinator me) ANYWAYS! My showcase show was performed last Wednesday and it was a success I guess you can say. Even though we did not fill the whole auditorium we were asked to perform AGAIN this Wednesday! This time it's going to be video taped for student records, meaning I BETTER get my lines right this time. Such a complete shocker to me when I forgot my line for the FiRST TIME! SADFACEEE! =[ I need to get it right FOR SURE this time, well there's always a first time for everything right? Well other than that I felt it was a good show.

Also this week a dear friend of mine wrote a book and finally got it published and printed. The cover was drawn by two of my 6th grade honors kids! She showed it to me on Tuesday, as I was glancing around on her Acknowledgement's page I was really surprised to see my name on there! I was ever soooo surprised and soooo happy! All my kids in the class cheered and whistled it was such a great moment for me. I got a little "aawweeee I feel special moment." I just ordered my copy of the book on Wednesday can't wait til it gets here to read! For anyone who is interested in reading this book here is the link:

So far everything is really great. Working on a new scene for my Acting 110 class, it was hard for my scene partner and I to find a scene for the both of us. My acting teacher told me to choose something challenging for myself, since I've been pretty flexible with roles, so we decided upon the play "Extremities" and boooy is this going to be a challenge! Just what the doctor ordered right? I asked my scene partner to choose between two of the scenes I had in mind the first and the second. I wanted to go for the second, but he went for the first. Lets just say the first will definitely be a challenge =T sooo I am going to take it! I watched the movie during the week and it is an intense scene. I don't know how we are going to pull it off, but we shall see here's the clip of the scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD7Ho4IdMss

we aren't doing the whole clip, we are stopping around the time where Raul suffocates Marjorie with the pillow... yup! Soooo we'll see how that goes. xoxo MB

I’m going to be in a MUSiCALish…

So at SAC I enrolled in to the Showcase Acting 198 class. Since it sucks we have no money to do any full productions because of the budget cuts, a performing class was offered to keep the Theatre alive at SAC. What musicalish are we doing? Well it is a showcase that will consist of variety types of scenes taken from different types and genres of plays. There is something for EVERYONE!

In this small showcase we are starting off with “WELCOME TO OUR WORLD” written by the amazing Sheryl Donchey! Giving the audience a glimpse of what Theatre life is like the audition process we go through. I will be doing the dance and monologue portion of the “audition” process. I will be doing a movie monologue playing Sugar Kane from the movie “Some Like It Hot!” I guess you can say I’m excited about it, I would of liked to find a PLAY monologue, but then again I don’t have time to look and memorize a new one because of the crazy schedule I have. ANYWAYS! Small scenes from Lysistrata , Midsummer’s Dream, A Raisin in the Sun and…GREASE!

=T… Well this is the first musical I am doing and honestly it isn’t exactly the FiRST musical I would want to jump right in to do, but then again I thought this is probably the closest thing I’ll ever get to be in a musical. I believe I am a horrible out of tune singer! Oh well its like my baby boy says “It’s an experience” hahaha well here’s the info if ya’ll want to come and check it out =]...

I have a blog!
